چکیده
Context Wild oats (Avena spp.), brome grass (Bromus spp.) and barley (Hordeum are significant weeds of crop production in south-eastern Australia. The presence herbicide resistance these weed species is a major limiting factor on both productivity profitability.Aims We aimed to determine the distribution across Australia. Methods Several surveys were conducted randomly selected fields four states Australia over 5-year period, collecting 663 wild oats, 366 262 samples that screened for with up five different groups or subgroups.Key results In was most common clodinafop-propargyl (‘fop’ ACCase inhibitor), 22% resistant detected all regions except Tasmania. Resistance sulfonylurea herbicides (ALS inhibitors) less 7% resistant, but regionally more variable. For grass, greater proportion mesosulfuron-methyl, at 24% 19%, respectively, than quizalofop-ethyl inhibitor). Conclusions recorded three species, differences extent among regions. Overall, higher average frequency found New South Wales mesosulfuron-methyl However, some still effective samples.Implications indicates management decisions need include consideration enable successful control measures.

Identification of glyphosate-resistant Lolium rigidum and Raphanus raphanistrum populations within the first Western Australian plantings of transgenic glyphosate-resistant canola
Transgenic glyphosate-resistant canola was first commercially grown in Western Australia (WA) in 2010, providing an opportunity to obtain important baseline data regarding the level of glyphosate resistance in weeds following the exclusive use of glyphosate for in-crop weed control. In this study, two surveys (2010 and 2011) were conducted across the 14Mha of the grainbelt of WA. The 2010 surve...
متن کاملEvolution and spread of herbicide resistant barley grass (Hordeum glaucum Steud. and H. leporinum Link.) in South Australia
The barley grasses (Hordeum glaucum Steud. and Hordeum leporinum Link.) are important weeds of crops and pastures in South Australia. Populations of both species have evolved resistance to paraquat, primarily following intensive use of paraquat for winter weed control in lucerne (Medicago sativa L.) crops. In the past few years, agricultural consultants have been reporting an increase in proble...
متن کاملHerbicide-Resistant Weed Seeds Contaminate Grain Sown in the Western Australian Grainbelt
Preventing the introduction of weeds into the farming system through sowing of clean seeds is an essential component of weed management. The weed seed contamination of cleaned grain and herbicide resistance levels of the recovered weed seeds were examined in a study conducted across 74 farms in the Western Australian grainbelt. Most farmers grew and conserved their own crop seed. The majority o...
متن کاملResistance of various biotypes of Canary grass (phalaris. Spp) to acetyl-CoA carboxylase-inhibiting herbicides.
Little seed canary grass (Phalaris minor L.) is a major weed in wheat fields in some parts of Iran. To evaluate the efficacy of molecular and greenhouse methods in detecting the resistance of 49 biotypes of canary grass(Phalaris. Spp) to acetyl-CoA carboxylase-inhibiting herbicides, two methods including whole plant screening and PCR-based molecular methods were applied. Results showed that the...
متن کاملEcological importance of Neotyphodium spp. grass endophytes in agroecosystems
Neotyphodium spp. fungal endophytes form symbiotic associations with agronomic grasses with expression ranging from mutualistic to parasitic. In general, endophyte infection frequencies seem more variable in natural compared to pastoral situations, suggesting that expression and benefits attributable to endophyte infection depend on the resource environment in which the host–endophyte complex w...
